MVVC PhD students workshop
A PhD students workshop took place in Dakar, Senegal from 21 – 22 July 2011.
Participants were from all African MVVC partner institutions: CNRFP, KEMRI, MRC and UCAD
The aim of the workshop was to clearly define PhD student’s projects, to reinforce collaborations on these projects in the MVVC consortium and to train the PhD students on statistical tools.
The workshop commenced on the first day with presentations on malaria research in UCAD and CNRFP followed by a presentation about malaria hotspots in Kilifi. After the presentations of the PhD students, appropriate methodological tools were defined and strategies for successful PhD projects were developed.
In a hands-on analysis workshop on the second day, the participants learnt how to use STATA to manage their data and Statscan to identify hotspots.
The workshop was organised by Philip Bejon (MVVC WP2 Leader, KEMRI/UOXF) and co-organised by Badara Cisse (UCAD) and Sodiomon Sirima (CNRFP).
